How To Play Quicker Soccer or Football

The Importance of One Touch

Play quicker!

If you want to play at the top level, you have to
become a one-touch player.

I’m not saying you have to play one touch every
time the ball comes to you.  There are obviously
times when you need to dribble or even slow
down the play.

I am however saying you must have the ability
to play one touch, when necessary.

At the higher levels of Football you get closed down
much quicker and more effectively, defenses are
more organized, players are faster and ability to
react to your movements quicker.

If you want to stay ahead of the play, work on becoming
a better one-touch player.

You can work on this on your own with one touch
passing techniques. But you are going to benefit most
in games and training sessions.

Do you have to take 2 or 3 touches?

Can you play the ball where it needs to go in 1?

The quicker you can move the ball, the more difficulty
the opposition will have dealing with you.

If you need 3 or 4 touches to get the ball under control
you are going to struggle to be an effective player
on the pitch.

If it’s not one touch it’s a quick two touch.
Control and Pass.

There are times to dribble and I encourage you to do so
when you have open space and are around dangerous
areas.

If you become good at playing one touch Football you
will not believe the influence you can have over
your team.

You can honestly control the speed of the game if you
can become a good one touch player. Plus, coaches
are always looking for players who are ability
to play one touch Football at a top speed.

More importantly you will become much more effective
on the field.

Watch the 1 touch passes in and around the box.

Notice the different combinations they use to play
them selves free.

Notice even if they aren’t playing one touch, everything
is down at pace and with purpose.

You won’t find anyone sitting on the ball doing step over’s
or taking unnecessary touches.
