Soccer Training For Flexibility
Flexibility is easily the most neglected area of fitness.
However, it is probably the most important.
If you want to have a long and healthy career, improving flexibility
needs to be a common theme in your training regime.
Improving flexibility will help reduce the chance of injury,
reduce post-match soreness, increase power and strength, and
improve overall on-field performances.
Form. Are you actually doing the stretch properly? With
everything in life you can give your best or you can do it
half-assed. Make a commitment to always give your best effort
and use the best possible form when stretching.
Breathe. Instead of focusing on the discomfort, focus on your
breathing. Make deep and relaxed breathes in through your nose
and out through your mouth. This will allow you to go deeper
and longer into your stretches.
Push. Doing the same will only produce the same results.
If you want to improve flexibility (and gain all the powerful benefits
of flexibility) you must gradually increase the intensity of your stretches.
Both, warm ups and cool downs, are extremely important and
should never be neglected or half-assed. If you want to have a healthy
and successful career you must realize how important this piece of advice is.
